Bolt Pattern Guide: Everything You Need to Know
What Is a Bolt Pattern?
A bolt pattern, or lug pattern, refers to the number of lug holes and the diameter of the circle they form on a wheel. It's written as two numbers — for example, 5x114.3 means 5 lug holes on a 114.3mm diameter circle.
Common Bolt Patterns by Vehicle Type
- 5x100 — Subaru, Volkswagen, Toyota (older models)
- 5x114.3 — Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Ford Mustang
- 5x127 — Jeep, Chevrolet, GMC trucks
- 6x139.7 — Toyota Tacoma, 4Runner, Nissan Frontier
- 8x180 — Chevrolet Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD
How to Measure Your Bolt Pattern
For a 5-lug wheel, measure from the center of one lug hole to the center of the lug hole directly across from it. For a 4 or 6-lug wheel, measure from center to center of two adjacent holes and use a conversion chart.
Can You Use an Adapter?
Wheel adapters allow you to fit wheels with a different bolt pattern onto your vehicle. While they work, we recommend using wheels with the correct native bolt pattern for safety and performance.
